The iPhone 6 is finally here with screens large enough to rival any competitor on the market. Below I'll go over my 5 favorite cases for the new design.

Whether you've recently purchased an iPhone 6 or the massive iPhone 6 Plus there's a lot to know about the accessories you can purchase for either model.

Your old 5s case doesn't even come close to fitting these models and despite the Gorilla Glass 3 screen, you'll want a good screen protector and case to protect the retina HD display from scratches and falls.

Differences Between the iPhone 6 Vs. iPhone 6 Plus

Before I go on I wanted to feature and focus on some of the differences that you find in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to avoid any confusion on the specifications.

Preventing Damage to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

As you can see in the videos to the right these bigger iPhones are prone to some damage that is caused by bending and dropping the phones. The best way to prevent this damage is to get a case and screen protector.

This is an absolute must for the iPhone 6 Plus which has shown to bend while in your pocket without protection.

That being said, we all know that bigger cases can be bulky and annoying, so this is a look at a few thin iPhone 6 cases, like the Spigen Air Cushion, that do a good job of protection while keeping the lightweight and thin design that we all love.

Bending the iPhone 6 is actually not that difficult to do. It can be done while in your pocket and can cause a permanent indentation or bend in the back of the phone.

Trying to bend these phones back to their original shape may cause broken glass on the front.

If this happens to you, the best thing to do is to just leave it alone.

The clear and minimalist design offers protection while keeping a clean look and feel.

5 stars for the Spigen Air Cushion iPhone 6 Case

5 good iPhone 6 Compatible Cases for the Money 2014

Spigen Air Cushion Case Bumper:

Yes, you can go out and spend $50 on the OtterBox case and get something that will make sure that nothing ever happens to your iPhone. That being said, you'll be adding nearly half of the weight back into your phone and greatly increasing its thickness.

Don't get me wrong, the OtterBox case is a good option for the frequently clumsy and definitely has its place but, it's the Spigen Air Cushion that I have my eye on at this time.

The Spigen Air Cushion case comes in six colors including my favorite, crystal clear. The lips on the front and back protect the screen and the back panel from scratching when then phone is dropped. In addition, air cushioned corners give it additional drop protection.

A Rugged iPhone 6 Case for Well Under $50

Urban Armor Gear Case:

Because the new Otterbox cases for the iPhone 6 have a flaw in the fingerprint sensor, you're better off going with something like Urban Armor Gear's Case if you want something a little more sturdy.

It features 7 colors and an armor shell and impact resistant soft core.

It weighs about an ounce, which adds about 28 grams back into your phone, but weighs less than the bulkier Otterbox design. Its designed with easy access to buttons and ports and overall isn't too cumbersome. It's also available for the 6 Plus' 5.5" Display.

Maxboost Vibrance Series:

Available in two-tone Italian Rose and Champagne Gold, the Maxboost series not only offers 360 degree protection, it also adds character to your iPhone 6.

The minimalist design doesn't change the feel of your phone and offers 4-sided protection with covered corders and a raised edge to protect the screen.

If you're looking for a case that is both rugged and meets your budget, the Spigen Tough Armor Case fits the bill. Available in 9 different colors.

A Tough and Rugged Guy's Spigen iPhone 6 Case for Under $25

Spigen Tough Armor Case:

Spigen has done a fantastic job with its iPhone 6 case series. Their more rugged design is no exception. For around $20 you get a slim case that still has the protective capacity of most other products out there.

The design includes a dual layer build with a soft cover TPU inside and a polycarbonate hard cover. It's available in 6 colors from bably blue to gunmetal and champagne gold.

Final Thoughts:

While you could probably go a long time with the 5s and not have an accident, I highly recommend a case to go alongside your iPhone 6 purchase. Find something that fits your personality and pocket book and you won't regret it.
